Nawal Allal is a specialist in gender equality, with over a decade of experience supporting development finance institutions, funds, and public agencies in designing and implementing gender-responsive strategies. Her work focuses on assessing organisational structures and financial systems to identify gender gaps and develop actionable plans aligned with the 2X Criteria.
At NIRAS, Nawal leads projects across Africa, Asia, and Europe, advising on gender-smart investing and financial inclusion. She has worked with partners such as KfW, AFD, and FMO to support banks, funds, and SMEs in improving women’s access to finance and economic opportunities. Her recent assignments include leading gender assessments for financial institutions in India and Southern Africa, and leading the technical assistance of the Global Gender Smart Fund.
Nawal holds an MSc in Economics, and has been recently certified in Inclusive Finance Policy.
